yeah, should have gone with a third party verification process such as alibaba that holds the funds for you until the equipment is shipped and everything is received/checked. Bureau Veritas also offers such services (or at least with a LOC at sight) or do a paypal transaction where you at least have some options in case of defective or no ship situation. Just make sure the seller is paypal approved. Many chinese suppliers don't like Paypal but if you tell them you simply won't place the order without some protection, they usually accept. If they don't, don't place the order....
